Once a month, we like to give our readers the chance to get to know one of our team members by shining the spotlight on them. Here’s our spotlight for this month who is also one of our newest team members, Allison Droke Erickson. Help us welcome her to the Crisp team!
What is your name and title at Crisp Marketing?
Allison Droke Erickson, CRM Digital Marketing Manager.
How long have you been working for Crisp Marketing?
Almost a month!
How long have you worked in this field and what’s your favorite part?
You could say I’ve been working in marketing since I was a scrappy teenager making silly posters for really horrible local concerts and adhering them to any surface I could find across town. I’ve always been drawn to marketing because I enjoy the mental juxtaposition of combining creativity with strategy.
What’s your favorite thing about Crisp Marketing so far?
The energy. Everyone is high spirited and enthusiastic. And also obviously the ability to wear jeans every day.
What’s a fun fact about you that no one in the office knows?
I have found myself in a many number of bizarre situations. One of which was dancing in a Broadway production. Jeff Goldblum was also there.
What are three words that you would use to describe yourself?
Short, snarky, eccentric
What is your favorite movie and book?
My favorite movie is The Graduate followed closely by Sunset Boulevard and Paper Moon respectively. My favorite book tends to change with my mood. Usually though, it is An American Tragedy by Theodore Dreiser. But my favorite authors are J.D. Salinger and Françoise Sagan.
Do you have a hero? If so, who and why?
I suppose I don’t really just have one hero, more like bits and pieces from cultural figures I have been inspired by over the years- Buster Keaton, Gertrude Stein, Malcolm McLaren, Andy Warhol, Joe Meek, Dorothy Parker, Lester Bangs… the list goes on.
What do you do for fun when you’re not working?
I am a collector and pop culture junkie. I love perusing through antique malls and thrift stores. It’s like visiting a museum where you can take home the exhibit pieces. I collect old books too and am always on the hunt for the oldest editions or wildest cover art. Recently I found a huge batch of absolutely beautifully illustrated mid century children’s books, which has inspired me to get back into drawing for fun. Music is also a significant source of joy for me. I don’t really have the patience to become a proper musician though, so now I just sit back and listen.
What is your favorite quote?
“I’ll try anything once, twice if I like it, three times to make sure” – Mae West
