How to Create Content: Step-by-Step

How do you create content? Everyone has their own system, but the basics are the same.

What is Content?

Everyone talks about content, but what does that mean? Content as a whole is a large, open concept. Content can range from literary writings, videos, images, infographics, etc. It’s up to you to figure out your niche for your target audience.

Finding Your Niche

What kind of content does your audience want? Do you have a goal that you want to meet? These questions are important.

Even though this is the first step to create content, it’s not necessarily set in stone once it’s complete. Your audience and your content are always changing. You will have to change with your audience and learn from how they react to you.

Brainstorm Ideas

You can never brainstorm too much when you’re focusing on how to create content. You may have a lot of ideas to start out with, but the initial excitement can wear off early on. Focus on staying consistent and space out your content.

Along with making a list of ideas for content, building a schedule can help keep your creative juices flowing and on schedule.

Research

Once you have your ideas and schedule laid out, it’s time to shift your focus to research. Research is a vital step when you create content.

First, find your sources. Make sure your source provides reliable and educational information. . Do your own fact checking on the information others have reported.

Next, do your keyword searches. What’s popular with your topics? What phrases are being searching for when looking at your topic? There are sites like MOZ, Soovle, and many more that break it down.

It’s important to know and understand that your content isn’t about what you want to write about as much as it’s about what your audience wants. The direction of the content you create can change over time as you research how well your audience is taking in your message with feedback, involvement, and direction.

Social Media

Whether you like it or not, social media is here to stay and it is part of your content. It’s become an integral part of getting your content to your audience.

Social media isn’t only about pushing your content on people or getting them to subscribe to you, but it’s also about building a relationship. Each platform is an opportunity for transparency and building trust with your audience.

Social media platforms are a great way to find your voice and show it off to your audience.

The thing about content is that there’s always more to make and it’s always changing. Keep yourself open to growing and learning from your audience and trends.

Email Marketing Tips

Top 5 Email Marketing Tips

Does email marketing really work? If you’re following these steps, the answer is yes.

Email is one of the most successful marketing mediums on the web now. Despite what some businesses may think about email marketing, it is the most reliable way to continue generating business.

1. Know Your Target Audience

This might be the most important email marketing tip. Your email content should always be relevant to your subscribers. It’s hard to lump all of your subscribers into one group, so don’t make the mistake of sending everyone the exact same email.

How can you do this? Email list segmentation lets you split your email list into sub-groups so you can target them better. Connecting with your audience is important in maintaining a relationship. Split your subscribers into groups such as sending frequency, past purchases, email activity, etc.

2. Utilize Your Subject Line

You should look at your subject line as your opening headline. Your open rate isn’t the only thing that matters when it comes to creating your subject line. You don’t want them to just open your email, but you also need to build trust with your audience, and let’s face it, click-bait subject lines don’t do that.

3. Keep it Short

Great, you got them to open your email with that snazzy subject line! What now? It’s important to keep your emails simple and not load it down with a lot of text. For people to take the action you want, give them the facts and lead them to your site.

While we’re here, let’s talk about how to make your emails mobile-friendly. More people are checking their emails on their phones than desktops now and that changes how you should get your message across. Keep text to a minimum and use methods like bullet points to break up what you have to say.

4. Keep Your Emails Out of the Spam Folder

This step is extremely important. The last thing you want is for your carefully structured email to end up in the spam folder.  In order to avoid this happening, make sure you’re following the guidelines for Controlling the Assault of Non-Solicited Pornography And Marketing (CAN-SPAM) Act.

5. Be Consistent

This is where knowing the difference in spamming and legitimate email marketing comes into play. Your subscribers are on your mailing list by choice, and as long as you’re following the guidelines when it comes to spam, you should consistently send out emails. Don’t hesitate in sending those emails over the fear of being a spammer. You’re building relationships with your subscribers and you should reach out to them frequently.

Email marketing doesn’t have to be complicated if you pay attention to what your subscribers want. The tips mentioned will help you to do just that. This won’t happen overnight, but take it step by step and your campaign will grow.

Friday Afternoon Saturday Night Fever

Another Birthday/Happy Hour combo? Heck yeah! This past week we celebrated another year of being awesome for one of our newest team members – Billy! We figured we’ve had more than enough cake lately, so why not shake things up and do a Birthday pie instead? Salted caramel chocolate pecan – pass me a piece please!

For our Happy Hour, we danced our way back to the 1970’s with a Seven & Seven – the same drink that John Travolta’s character ‘Tony’ drinks at the disco! Now, everybody do the hustle and join us in wishing Billy a Happy Birthday!
